Why "arms8586"? It struck to me when I was creating my new "free" email id since my first email id had met with sudden death.

We have seen the origins of the ghosting term “arms8586” in the last post and in this post we will have a tryst with the answer of what “arms8586” means.

Well, guns and arms have been a fascination for me. All this started when I was in 4th. I had seen lots of guns and ammunition on TV and magazines by that time. I always used to wonder about these deadly weapons, which causes rush of emotions for both the person no matter which side of barrel they are standing. This fascination moved to next level when I got a chance to touch & feel the deadly metal. Once, my family and I were invited for lunch by a gentleman who was serving state police. While chatting I came to know that he was Inspector at city police station. So my very first request on hearing this was to have a look at his service pistol. He readily accepted that and took out the pistol from a drawer. He took out the magazine and placed the gun on table in front of me. I was dumbfounded when I saw a real pistol in front of me. Slowly I stretched my hand and touched it. My finger tips were sensing the cold metal and following well carved cuts of the gun. I picked it up with so enthusiasm that I could not feel the weight of gun which was heavier for a child of that age. In no time, it was resting in my small palm supported by other hand, pointing to a bulb of verandah and with all might I pressed trigger. “Click” came the sound when hammer struck the empty bullet chamber. It all happened in just a fraction of second. Had there been cartridge in it, either bulb would have been shattered to pieces or there would have been at least 6 inch deep hole in the wall behind the bulb. In either case, both uncle and I would have been in trouble. I think he had sensed that beforehand and hence removed magazine from gun before handing it to me. It was such a nice feeling to hold gun in my hand. It was mix of power and supremacy, security and protection. I realized how it felt to have gun in your hand when you are in trouble.

Finally, uncle took gun from me. Only after handing over, I sensed pain in wrist and arm. I was holding gun for a long time. He suggested me to do some wrist exercise. While exercising my wrist, I got introduced to different parts of the gun and their functions. He later explained about cartridge also and how it worked. It was such a nice experience to hold a real gun and fire a mock shot. The impact was so much that it became my identity in cyber world. Wherever you come across this term in cyber space, 99.9% of the times it will be pointing to me.

This was the reason “arms” glued to me. Well “8586” do not have any anecdote attached to it. It was just the case that when I was registering my new “free” email id, someone with the id “arms86” was already there. So my next choice went to “arms8586”. In this way this “idiom” came to existence.

P.S.: Hope you like the posts related to “arms8586”, but in reality both the posts are not even thousands of kilometer near to the actual reason and facts and figures of this unique term. It’s an idiom in true nature. But it helped me a lot in starting my blog and keeping you occupied. The actual reason is still a secret which might or might not be revealed.
